Course Description
The COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and SHOC (Safe Handling of Chemicals) Training Course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to identify, assess, control, and safely manage hazardous substances in the workplace. The course focuses on protecting workers, facilities, and the environment from the risks associated with the use, storage, handling, transportation, and disposal of hazardous chemicals and substances.
Key Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the principles and requirements of COSHH and chemical safety management.
- Identify hazardous substances and chemical-related workplace hazards.
- Interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical labels, and hazard pictograms.
- Understand routes of exposure and potential health effects of hazardous substances.
- Conduct COSHH assessments and evaluate chemical risks effectively.
- Apply the hierarchy of controls to manage and reduce exposure risks.
- Select and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for chemical handling activities.
- Implement safe storage, handling, transportation, and disposal practices for hazardous substances.
- Respond effectively to chemical spills, leaks, exposures, and emergency situations.
- Support legal compliance, environmental protection, and continual improvement in chemical safety performance.
